NIGERIA AIRSPACE MANAGEMENT AGENCY ALLAYS TRAVELLERS FEARS ON SAFETY OF THE COUNTRY'S AIRSPACE

The Nigeria Airspace Management Agency, NAMA, has allayed fears of air travellers on the rumoured uncertainty of safety in the nation's airspace saying, it is presently sharing the airspace with the Nigeria Air Force.

A statement from the agency said the Nigerian Airforce is conducting her rehearsals in preparation for the air show that usually acompany the commemmoration of the nation's Independent anniversary which will be observed on the first of October.

According to the statement signed by NAMA"s General Manager, Public Affairs, Khalid Emele, whenever the Nigerian Air Force, NAF, takes to the sky in practice of the October first display, all civil aircraft are held at a distance of about twenty to thirty nautical miles to allow for the safe military exercise.

He explained that the NAF rehearsal often warrant air borne air craft separation by the air traffic controller, which could cause a little hoverring in the sky for clearnce by the air traffic controller to ensure safe landing.

The statement appealed to passengers to bear with the situation as the exercise would soon end and smooth clearance for landing and taking off will resume in full throttle without any cause for air delay.
